Hello! I am Ashley Kienitz. Welcome to my site!
ABOUT
Me

My goal as an elementary teacher is to support students in their education and their future by showing them how to be lifelong learners and people of character.

Hello! I am Ashley, and I am so excited to begin my journey as a teacher! Education has always been a part of my life. Growing up, I always loved school. My parents are both educators (my mom is a first grade teacher at Mesa Verde Elementary School, and my dad is the principal at Farmington High School), and they always pushed me to be the very best version of myself in my learning and in school. I also had so many teachers in my life that always supported me and made me want to teach. I would also visit my mother’s classroom all of the time. Going there made me fall in love with teaching. When I really made the decision to be a teacher, though, was when I did a project in high school where I job shadowed a middle school Language Arts teacher. This solidified my decision to teach, as I loved seeing the kids grow and learn. I had so much fun, and I got so close to the students in the classroom. I loved making a difference in the students' lives. Seeing a child understand something I have taught them gave me joy. I found my calling!

  • Goals for working with Emergent Bilinguals: To be able to support the students in any way possible and provide as many resources as I can. I want to be able to support them in their language learning by making the classroom environment very comfortable for them to learn with a low affective filter. I want to also work on my Spanish skills, especially if I teach abroad somewhere or even if I stay teaching in the area. My goal is to engage the ELLs in my classroom to the content and make sure that they feel comfortable in their learning.
